Judy I. Massong

Judy Massong is an accomplished attorney recognized by her peers as one of "The Top 50 Women" attorneys in Washington Super Lawyers 2012. She has been named to the Washington Super Lawyers list since 2003. As a registered nurse, Judy has a strong medical background and a career-long commitment to helping injured people.

A native of Yakima, WA, Judy graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in nursing. After working in a renal transplant unit at the University of Washington Medical Center, she went on to earn a M.S. in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Judy then taught nursing for 5 years, first at UCSF and then at the University of San Francisco. While teaching and working as a nurse, she also earned her law degree from Golden Gate University’s School of Law.

After law school Judy returned to Seattle as director of government relations for the Washington State Nurses Association as their lobbyist in Olympia, WA. She found the political process and issues interesting and challenging, but decided her true calling was being a plaintiffs’ personal injury lawyer, helping people who have been injured by the negligence of others. She now has more than 25 years of experience helping her clients find the truth about what and who caused their injuries and get the assistance they need and deserve. At Diamond~Massong she focuses on medical malpractice, auto accidents, product liability, construction law, wrongful death, and nursing home abuse and neglect cases.

Throughout her career, Judy has been deeply committed to preserving the rights of citizens under the law and the integrity of the civil justice system. She is a trained mediator and was selected as a panel member by the Washington Arbitration and Mediation Services. She is past president of the Washington State Association of Justice (formerly Washington State Trial Lawyers Association) and currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Washington State Bar Association. Judy receives top marks from legal rating services, including Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating (AV); Washington’s Top 100 Super Lawyers and Top 50 Women Super Lawyers by Washington Law and Politics magazine; and has been named as a Washington State Super Lawyer® since 2003.

Judy is also an avid gardener and a board member of the Northwest Horticultural Society.

“I was only 18 when my son Lucas was born and didn’t realize his slow development was due to an injury during birth. When I met Judy Massong, I was young, naïve, and destitute. She was compassionate, cared a lot about Lucas, and alleviated my fears about going to trial. Her knowledge of medical terminology was incredibly helpful and contributed to the verdict against the hospital. I am still caring for my son, who requires 24-hour care, and this would not have been possible without Judy’s representation. She is awesome.” Cheryl Marshall
